SharX

SharX - Who are we?

SharX stands for 'Sharing in Christ' and we are the Christian Youth Group of Christ Church, Pellon. We were formed from the Sunday morning young peoples group known as Sharks which had dwindled in numbers.

SharX has now been running for over 5 years and many

Young people who came in the beginning are still here and are bringing along their friends, with over 20 members on average attending each session out of an active membership of about 30.

Fun & games in the Barn

The regular meetings on alternate Wednesdays are run by Christian leaders and include 20-30 minutes of Christian teaching- this is not optional - all the young people are required to come to these sessions. They include discussions, videos, q and a sessions, Bible passages and how they are relevant to life today, moral issues and prayer. We meet at Christ Church Pellon C of E, Church Lane. From 6.45 - 9pm.

SharX provides a safe Christian environment where our young people aged 10 - 18 can meet for fun + games such as Pool, X box , Air Hockey, Wii, Play Station, laptops with wifi, Karaoke or simply chill out with their mates.

A SharX member leads the way!

SharX also enjoy subsidised trips to such as paintballing, carting, laser quest, tenpin bowling and other fun venues plus a fantastic weekend away every summer with other Christian youth groups from the North of England.

We believe every session should be a fun filled experience that also provides an opportunity for the SharX to learn more about the Gospel and the love of God.

As Christians our commission is to pass on the word of Jesus, especially to our children and young people, to let them see our faith and for them to question theirs. They can take what they learn at SharX and do with it what they will and we pray that many, at some point in their lives, will come to know Jesus who will change their lives.

SharX enjoy fun fundraising activities and we tithe 10% of our income to other, mainly children's, charities. For our young people the fortnightly SharX Wednesday meeting has become their church service.

Mission Statement - Our Aims are:

1. To emphasise and demonstrate that at the heart of all Christian Life and work is a personal relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ:

2. To promote growth in Christian Faith and life that is rooted in the bible and to create an environment encouraging loving one another in Jesus;

3. to Pray and encourage renewal by the Holy Spirit, in the personal life of leaders, members and the corporate life of the SHARX group;

4. To explore ways of outreach and to encourage participation in forms of passing on our faith.

The alternate Wednesday evening SharX meetings cost £2.00 per member, including refreshments.
